Just Coloring
I.Love.These.Two.....and adore the simplest of times with them. My goal is to take more pictures of the little things and the special moments. On this day we just colored for a long time. The look of concentration and achievement on this girls face was priceless. River is always her sidekick and loves to watch everything that she does. Times like these get me thinking about what is to come with these two little beans. I can hardly wait for the day when we can have true circle time for our activities at home.
New Years Eve with the Simpson's
Charlie, Leslie, and Abbie were able to come over for New Years Eve! Unfortunately Abbie had a violent bout of the flu and felt terrible. So needless to say we did not take any pictures until the last day when she was feeling better. We had a two night seafood feast while they were here and spent the time just visiting and nursing Abbie!
Christmas Brunch and Beyond
We had Christmas brunch and Mom and Rod's house and opened our presents from them. The funniest thing happened while we were there. Laken loves to clean, sweep, and mop. So Grandma Ivy gave her a kids swiffer sweeper for Christmas. When it was wrapped Laken played with it like it was a swiffer. When Dad helped her open it and she realized that it was a REAL swiffer she was so excited and said, "OOOOOOHHHHHHH!" It was hilarious and adorable all at once. River hung out with a new reindeer friend on his toy gym. Later that evening we opened his gift from Santa since he missed it in the morning. Laken helped and even showed him how the hippo ball popper worked! We truly had a blessed Christmas!
Santa Came Christmas Morning
Over the night Santa came and brought a special gift for both kids and filled the stockings. In the morning it took Laken a few minutes to realize that she had ANOTHER present, but when she did pure glee swept over her face. She got a ladybug ride on toy! River was pretty wore out from all of the holiday excitement, so he slept in. When he work up he dressed up as Santa.....so cute!
Christmas Eve
Chase's parents Peggy and Gary were able to come over for Christmas this year, and they were able to bring Grandma Korte with them! On Christmas Eve we had a holiday dinner, Chase baked the apple pie (pictured) and Mom and Rod came over for the big evening. Laken and River had special Christmas Eve outfits to wear, it was so hard to get a picture of the two of them together. When it was time to open gifts, River fell asleep and Laken dug right in! I think her favorite part was sitting on all of the boxes;)
