Zero Month Stats

Here are Laken's "stats" for 0 months old:
*At my one and a half week old pediatrician visit I weighed 5 lbs, 14 ounces.
*I am too small for newborn diapers and clothing.
*I hate to take baths alone.
*I like to hold mommies finger while I nurse.
*I have dark blue eyes and brown hair. I'm rocking a mullet....business in the front (short hair) and party in the back (long hair).
*I look a lot like my daddy, but have my mom's birthmark in the middle of my forehead.
*Clothes are overrated!
*I reach for the toys on my toy gym.
*I mimic my dad when he sticks his tongue out.
*I like to look at my mom and my dad's faces.
*I've been out to eat several times.....I haven't tried anything off of the menu and always sleep through it.
*I'm not a big fan of my car seat, but it gets me where I need to go.
*I make a lot of noises....sighing, grunting, gurgling, sneezing, crying when I am hungry, snorting while I nurse, and suckling.
*I love music ("the itsy bitsy spider", "ickle pickle bumblebee", and anything on daddy's guitar).
*I make a lot of funny faces......taco tongue, wrinkled old man forehead, and wide open eyes.

Meeting Grandpa Rod and Grandma Ivy

Grandpa Rod and Grandma Ivy came to visit and meet Laken for the first time. They flew into the Mesa airport and thought that only Chase would be there to meet them. We surprised them and Laken and I were hidden around the corner! Laken was only 6 days old and Grandpa Rod was overwhelmed by just how tiny she was. You can see the pure joy and excitement on their faces!

1st Smile

This is the 1st smile that we were able to catch on camera on August 3rd * 9 days old!

1st Bath

Laken hated her 1st bath! We started in her fun baby tub but quickly learned that she was not quite ready for it......she let out the loudest cries that she had ever screamed yet:( We moved on to a sponge bath and washing her hair in the sink. She seemed to enjoy having her hair washed. Laken now takes her baths in the bathtub with mom and really likes the water.

Umbellical Chord

On your 4th day of life your chord fell off. Dad was changing your diaper and we noticed that it was missing! We found it on the floor a few minutes later.

Welcome Home

On Tuesday July 27th in the evening we got to take our precious daughter home. During her hospital stay she lost a significant amount of weight and weighed in at 5 lbs 7 ounces. On the last day in the hospital she started to gain weight again and we were allowed to take her home! We were so excited to show her the world. Chase says that he has never been so nervous to drive, as he was that night. Precious cargo on board.
